Confronted by the sudden, brutal murder of his wife, his own history of violence, and a system that wants him crushed at any cost, immigrant labourer Bala (aka Dasru) flees with his infant daughter, Joram, from a metropolis to his erstwhile home in the distant forests, only to negotiate their survival with a bloody past he mistakenly thought had been left behind for good.

Devashish Makhija has written and directed short films, such as Taandav (2016), El’ayichi (2015), Rahim Murge Pe Mat Ro (2010), Absent (2016), Cycle (2021), and Cheepatakadumpa (2021) and full-length feature films, Ajji (2017) and Bhonsle (2018). His short and feature films have won awards at several international film festivals. Some of his other accomplishments include a solo art show, Occupying Silence, bestselling children’s books, a collection of short stories, Forgetting, an award-winning novel, Oonga, and a forthcoming book of poems, Bewilderness. By/Two, his story from the Edgar Award-nominated Mumbai Noir has been adapted into a feature-length film to be directed by him next year.
