Suspended Time is a semi-autobiographical film that unfolds as a personal diary, offering an intimate glimpse into the filmmaker's life with a sense of whimsy.

Set against the COVID-19 pandemic and the changing seasons, the film poignantly explores family dynamics while following two brothers navigating their relationship as they confront their past and present confined together in their childhood home. It captures the tension and intimacy of the characters’ interactions and their emotional journeys. Drawing inspiration from the French New Wave, Olivier Assayas crafts a narrative that is both reflective and playful, emphasizing the vivid transient nature of memory and time in the fleeting moments, much like the Hockney paintings that the filmmaker also pays an ode to.
