Strands

This year Jio MAMI is excited to introduce a new way to browse our densely packed programme - Strands. Strands are just that: threads that tie together films from different sections and different parts of the world. They are an alternative way to look at the film festival selection, away from rigid demarcations and towards a connective flow in the programme. Through Strands, we look at emerging themes that stand out to us, the team, and hopefully you, the viewer. Themes such as a refreshing and urgent focus on transgender characters, represented in Queering Gender. Issues of the hour found in Far From Home, Sisterhood and Modern Anxieties. Shared concerns captured in It’s Complicated, Solitary Souls and Personal Resistance.

So mark your calendars to discover World Premieres and catch up on Oscar submissions in Road to the Oscars. Get your bonafides in with Art in Cinema and Films on Film. Do you fancy a glimpse through The Child’s Eye or a Fantastical adventure? Perhaps you prefer Comedy over drama? Or maybe some Animation to soothe the soul? There’s something for everyone in Strands.
